The studio supports lecture recordings, lightboard sessions, homework‑solution videos, online course materials,
and conference‑talk presentations. The space provides a controlled environment with professional lighting, audio,
a lightboard, and capture tools for instructors and staff.

Scheduling
To reserve Cory‑144MB:
- Open your bConnected Google Calendar (CalNet login required).
- Create an event and add the room resource:
“Cory‑144MB Recording Studio Cap:42” - Select an available time and save the event.
New users: Add “EECS‑ESG Audio Visual Support” to your event and email
esg@eecs.berkeley.edu to arrange for a training session before your first use.
After receiving your confirmation email, request card‑key access from the front office.
Recording Instructions (Follow the Stars)
⭐ 1. Turn on the “ON AIR” Sign
Located near the entrance light switches. This prevents accidental walk‑ins during recording.
⭐ 2. Log Your Visit
- Sign the logbook with date, time, name, contact info, platform, and any issues.
- Note the current room setup — return everything to zero state when finished.
- Load your presentation via USB or from:
\\project.eecs.berkeley.edu\mediastore
⭐ 3. Select the Mac
The studio now uses a single Mac workstation for all recording.
⭐ 4. Lighting & Room Setup
- Turn studio lights ON (rocker switch under the table).
- Turn house lights OFF (switch by the door).
- Adjust chair, microphone, and table height.
- Turn on the viewing monitor under the camera if needed.
Lightboard Use
- Ensure the lightboard illumination is on.
- Use only studio‑approved neon markers.
- Clean the glass after your session using the provided spray and cloth.
- Avoid touching the glass to prevent smudges.
⭐ 5. Start Camtasia Recorder
- Mac: Applications folder
Hotkeys:
- Mac: Shift‑Command‑2 (start), Option‑Command‑2 (stop/pause)
⭐ 5a. Camtasia Settings
- Camera: Mac – Blackmagic HD 720p 59.94;
- Microphone: Mac – Shure Digital;
- Verify camera image and microphone levels.
⭐ 6. Do a 1‑Minute Test Recording
- Ensures audio and video are correct before recording your full session.
- Keep final recordings to 15‑minute modules.
- Save your project to USB or mediastore with a descriptive name (e.g., EE240‑2013‑01‑29).
⭐ 7. When Finished
- Return all settings to zero state.
- Clean the lightboard if used.
- Collect personal items.
- Turn off the “ON AIR” sign.
Special Notes & Troubleshooting
- PowerPoint annotations do not save on Mac.
- When transferring Camtasia projects, zip the entire project directory before copying.
